Having branched out from just music streaming to also offering podcasts and audiobooks in its content library, Spotify is making it easier to find popular books. Across platforms in many genres, “best of” lists prove incredibly popular, and it is with this in mind that Spotify is now rolling out audiobook charts.

For now, the charts are limited to the UK and US, but it is likely to expand to other regions in the future. It builds on the existing Music and Podcast charts already provided each week by Spotify, making it a natural progression.

Charts are available whether you are a paying subscriber, or someone using a free tier. Spotify says that the charts can be accessed from within the app if you “tap Search and select the “Audiobooks” tile to enter the hub. From there, scroll down to the “Dive deeper” shelf to find the charts”.

Announcing the new chart, Spotify says:

This launch is designed to benefit the entire audiobook ecosystem. For book lovers, charts provide a trusted guide to the titles people are listening to right now. For authors and the publishing industry, they create opportunities for books to be discovered, helping stories reach new audiences and build lasting fandom.

Duncan Bruce, Spotify’s Director of Audiobook Partnerships and Licensing, adds: “As we’ve proven with Music and Podcasts Charts, when content is easier to access, discover, and enjoy, the demand grows. We are delighted to now bring that to audiobooks, to help provide even more ways for users, publishers, and authors to discover what’s trending on Spotify, and make books more connected with culture in real time”.

Spotify concludes by saying:

This is the latest step in our continued investment in audiobooks, coming on the heels of innovative features like Page Match, which lets you sync your place between a print or e‑book and the audiobook version, and Recaps, short audio summaries designed to catch you up on the portion of the audiobook you’ve already heard.
