There’s been a surprising number of excellent gaming laptop deals this week as we build up to Amazon Prime Day later this month. Yesterday, I found a great listing on an RTX 5080 Lenovo at B&H Photo, and today, I’ve found a fantastic alternative for those on a budget.

It’s this RTX 5060-equipped Gigabyte A16 at Walmart for $999 (was $1,499), which is going cheap(er) thanks to a massive $500 price cut at the retailer.

Specs include the excellent RTX 5060 graphics card alongside a decent Ryzen 7 260 chipset, 16GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 1TB SSD. These are good specs for the money, even if it would have been nice to have 32GB of RAM right out of the box.

With RAM prices so high, it’s somewhat understandable that you only get 16GB here, which should be enough for good performance either way. The RTX 5060 is paired with a 1200p 165Hz display, so it’s a good mid-range setup for smooth gaming on most titles.

Today’s best value gaming laptop deal

Right now is usually a bad time to pick up tech, as we’re only a few weeks away from the big annual Amazon Prime Day sale. Gaming laptops may be one of the sole exceptions to that rule, however, as I generally find retailers like Best Buy, Walmart, and Dell to have better deals.

Having looked through Amazon’s gaming laptop listings, I haven’t found anything that challenges this Gigabyte A16 for value right now. Waiting for Prime Day is an option, but if you do, I’d still recommend checking out rival retailer discounts to see what’s about. Prime Day is set to run from June 23 to 26 this year, so regardless of whether you wait it out or not, you don’t have to hang around too long.
