NYT Strands today (game #782) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #782, are…
- SHOUT
- WHOOP
- CATERWAUL
- BELLOW
- HOLLER
- CLAMOR
- SPANGRAM: LETSGETLOUD
- My rating: Hard
- My score: 1 hint
“Hullabaloo” is one of those words that’s enjoyable to say but, in common with all of today’s words, straddles the border between giddy and annoying — fun if you’re the one doing the caterwauling, less fun if you’re trying to do a word search while someone is caterwauling.
WHOOP is, among them all, the most acceptable and something that people are allowed to do as a sign of appreciation at a concert or at the end of a play, but the rest are the kind of activities that will get an adult arrested, or at the very least stared at.
Beyond the pleasurable word search I was also pleased to see the return of the needlessly long spangram after a series of sensible ones — albeit one that demands an apostrophe.
Yesterday’s NYT Strands answers (Thursday, April 23, game #781)

- UNDERWORLD
- MARRIAGE
- LOVE
