Corsair has launched the Vanguard Air 99 Wireless, a low-profile optical-mechanical keyboard that combines high-speed input with programmable controls and Stream Deck integration. It is available now for $259.99, offering a compact design that blends fast response times with features suited to both gaming and everyday use.

The keyboard uses a 99 percent layout in a slim aluminum frame that measures just 18mm thick, giving it a compact footprint without removing essential keys. The low-profile design and sculpted build make it easier to fit into modern desk setups while maintaining a full-featured layout.

Corsair’s OPX low-profile optical switches register inputs using infrared light instead of physical contact. With a short 1.5mm actuation point, inputs register quickly and reset just as fast during extended use.

Input performance includes support for up to 8,000Hz polling in both wired and 2.4GHz wireless modes. The keyboard also includes FlashTap SOCD handling, full key rollover, and anti-ghosting, which helps maintain accuracy when multiple keys are pressed at once.

There is more going on beyond raw input speed, especially with the six programmable SD-keys built into the layout. These integrate with the Elgato Stream Deck ecosystem, letting you trigger macros, launch apps, or control tools with a single press. For anyone using Stream Deck, this could be genuinely useful.

Vanguard Air 99 Wireless for serious gaming

“The Vanguard Air 99 Wireless is a low-profile keyboard built with serious gaming at its core,” said Tobias Brinkmann, VP and General Manager of Gaming Peripherals at Corsair. “It’s built for people who want a style-forward, elegant keyboard solution for high-level gaming and daily productivity.”

Onboard memory allows up to five profiles to be stored directly on the device, keeping lighting, macros, and key assignments consistent across different systems. That makes switching between devices simpler, since settings stay with the keyboard rather than relying on software.

Connectivity is handled via a tri-mode setup, including 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth, and wired USB. It works across PC, Mac, and console setups, which adds flexibility if you move between devices regularly.

Typing feel has been refined with gasket mounting and five layers of internal dampening, which help reduce noise and create a more controlled feel during use. Double-shot PBT keycaps are included, helping maintain durability and a consistent texture over time.

Battery life reaches up to 55 hours with lighting disabled, or around 29 hours with lighting enabled at moderate brightness. Charging is handled through USB, so it is straightforward to top up between sessions.

The Vanguard Air 99 Wireless is available to buy now from here priced at $259.99.
