Microsoft has been making a lot of changes to Windows 11, including adding more and more AI features to the OS. Despite this, there are large numbers of people clinging on to Windows 10, despite it having reached its end of life last year.
For many people, Microsoft’s best operating system was one of its simplest — Windows 7. The company stopped supporting that operating system six years ago, but if you’re wondering what it would look like if it was still being developed today, we have the answer in the form of the re-imagined Windows 7 2026 Edition.
Windows 7 2026 Edition
Talented concept creator Addy Visuals, who previously gave us an updated version of Windows XP and a imaginative take on the future Windows 12, has channeled his creative abilities into envisioning what a modern version of Windows 7 might look like.
This updated version of the OS says goodbye to Copilot and hello to Clippy, a “new” local agent that can perform tasks like ordering a group of folders alphabetically.
Gadgets make a return in the concept too, and search has also been overhauled so it can find anything you’re looking for, even if you spell it (badly) wrong. There’s also a brand new version of File Explorer.

The concept keeps the iconic Windows 7 design, including the left aligned taskbar, but gives it a modern Windows 11 twist. The video is short but sweet and you can watch it below.
