Klarna has been added as a payment option in Google Pay for users in the UK, allowing shoppers to select interest free installment payments at checkout. This adds a new way for Google Pay users to split purchases into smaller payments while managing orders and repayments through the Klarna app. It’s already offered in Apple Pay.

UK shoppers using Google Pay can now choose Klarna’s pay in 3 option when eligible at checkout. The feature divides purchases into three equal installments without interest when payments are made on time. The option appears alongside existing payment methods in Google Pay, expanding the range of ways customers can make purchases.

Raji Behal, Head of Western and Southern Europe, UK & Ireland at Klarna, said, “We’re really excited to bring Klarna’s fair, flexible and interest-free payment options to Google Pay users. This is a big moment for us and a major step towards our goal of being available at every checkout, everywhere. Together with Google, we’re making it easier than ever for millions of shoppers to choose Klarna and pay in a smarter, more transparent way — all from their phone.”

Lisa Yokoyama, Director of Product Management at Google Pay said: “Expanding our collaboration with Klarna to the UK underscores our goal to empower more people with the flexibility to pay how they choose. With people shopping on Google over a billion times a day, this broader footprint provides even more checkout options to help businesses drive tangible growth.”

The integration means shoppers can select Klarna without leaving Google Pay. Once a purchase is made, users can open the Klarna app to monitor orders, track deliveries, manage returns, and view upcoming payments.

Installment payment services have grown in popularity as shoppers look for alternatives to traditional credit cards for everyday spending. Adding Klarna to Google Pay is a smart option as the mobile wallet is already used for online and in-store transactions, and reduces extra steps during checkout.

For merchants, the integration means another payment choice that could appeal to customers who prefer splitting costs over time without worrying about rising credit card debt.

Google Pay already supports multiple payment methods, and adding Klarna extends those options without requiring users to switch apps during payment.

Klarna says it has more than 114 million active consumers worldwide, and it plans to continue expanding partnerships with large platforms to increase availability.
