Chinese peripheral maker MonsGeek has launched a new hybrid keyboard concept called TMR MagMech, which supports both magnetic switches and traditional mechanical switches in the same board. This gives owners greater control over how individual keys behave, combining fast magnetic actuation with the familiar feel of mechanical switches.
The unusual approach allows gamers and keyboard enthusiasts to tailor their setups depending on how each key is used. Instead of choosing one switch type for an entire board, it’s possible to mix and match different technologies across the keyboard.

Magnetic switch keyboards have become increasingly popular among competitive gamers because they allow adjustable actuation points and rapid trigger behavior. Those features help reduce input delay and allow faster repeated key presses during gameplay.
Some users still prefer the sound and tactile response of mechanical switches for typing or everyday use, and MonsGeek’s MagMech function allows both switch types to coexist on a single board.
Gamers can install magnetic switches on keys that could benefit from faster response, such as WASD. Other keys can use linear, tactile, or clicky mechanical switches depending on personal preference.
This setup creates a mix of gaming-focused responsiveness and traditional typing comfort across the same keyboard.
TMR MagMech system
The MagMech system relies on TMR sensor technology, short for Tunnel Magnetoresistance. These sensors detect changes in magnetic fields with high sensitivity, allowing the keyboard to measure switch movement accurately.
MonsGeek says TMR sensors provide higher precision than conventional Hall Effect sensors. The technology also offers greater tolerance for magnetic alignment and lower power consumption.
Those characteristics allow magnetic switches and mechanical switches to work together without affecting input detection. The sensors maintain consistent actuation and responsiveness even when different switch types are installed on the same keyboard.
MonsGeek has launched two different keyboards with its MagMech technology. The FUN60 Ultra TMR is a compact 60 percent layout model with pricing starting at $64.99. The M1 V5 TMR uses a larger 75 percent layout and is priced at $149.99.
Both keyboards feature aluminum cases manufactured with 0.01mm precision. The boards support hot-swappable 5-pin and 3-pin mechanical switches, allowing users to install or replace switches without soldering.
