Instagram has expanded the availability of post scheduling to all users in a move that will be widely welcomed by users of the social media platform.

Previously only available to Professional Mode users, post scheduling no longer has any criteria that need to be met; if you are using Instagram, you are now able to schedule posts. Instagram is framing this as a way to open up creative tools to new creators, but it is something that is likely to be used outside this group as well.

By removing eligibility requirements, Instagram has slightly flattened the hierarchy of different types of user, although there remain some tools that are not available to everyone. For instance, Instagram Live is only available to personal and professional accounts with at least 1,000 followers. Monetization and advertising tools remain exclusive to professional accounts.

In a post to its Creators account, Instagram says:

We’re making it easier to get started on Instagram, especially for creators who are earlier on in their journey. ✨That means expanded access to creator tools and clearer eligibility, all in one place, so you’ll know exactly what you can use now and what’s needed to unlock more. 🛠️

The post also says:

Now all public accounts will have access to a set of foundational tools and insights to support your creative process, including an insights dashboard to see how your content is performing. Upgrading to a professional account provides access to monetization and ad tools.

Although there are some features and options that are not immediately available to everyone, the fact that only 1,000 followers are needed to unlock more is a pretty easy target to reach. There is a strong argument that if you don’t have this many followers, then there is simply no need to have access to more advanced tools anyway.
