Asus has announced the ROG Strix Morph 96 Wireless, a 96 percent mechanical keyboard with hot-swappable switches, and tri-mode connectivity. Priced at $139.99, the new keyboard is aimed at users who want a compact layout without losing the full numpad and dedicated navigation keys.

The 96 percent layout keeps most of the functionality found on full-size keyboards while reducing the overall footprint. It measures only slightly wider than a typical tenkeyless design, leaving more desk space available for mouse movement.

Access to internal components is handled through a removable screw-on top cover that allows users to reach the plate and PCB layers. This makes it much easier to change switches or adjust internal parts.

Hot-swappable ROG NX Snow V2 linear and NX Storm V2 clicky switches are included, mounted on a south-facing PCB. That improves compatibility with aftermarket keycaps, including Cherry-profile sets that can sometimes interfere with north-facing designs.

A silicone gasket mount is combined with internal dampening foam to reduce vibration and switch noise during typing. The keyboard also includes adjustable tilt angles to support different typing positions during long sessions, something I always look for on keyboards.

Lighting is handled through per-key RGB effects along with dual side light bars that extend illumination beyond the main key area. A built-in control knob and side button allow adjustments to volume, media playback, lighting brightness, and other functions.

Connectivity options include 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth, and wired USB-C modes. Bluetooth allows connections to up to three devices, while the 2.4GHz mode is intended for low-latency use such as gaming.

Battery life is rated at up to 590 hours with RGB lighting disabled, or around 100 hours with default lighting enabled. The keyboard also supports connection via the Omni Receiver, allowing compatible devices to share a single wireless dongle.

You can configure the keyboard settings through Gear Link, a browser-based tool that allows key remapping, macro setup, and lighting adjustments without the need for additional software.

The Strix Morph 96 Wireless works under both Windows 11 and macOS, and you can switch between the two operating system layouts with a simple shortcut.

The keyboard is on sale and available to buy now from Best Buy, Newegg and Micro Center.
