A North Carolina Partnership Turns a Community’s Voice into a Voting Anthem

, /PRNewswire/ — We Lift Our Voices is a modern voting anthem created to help make the stakes of the 2026 midterm elections feel immediate, and inspire more young Black voters to vote in Forsyth County and throughout North Carolina. Only 16% of Forsyth County’s Black voters aged 18–40 participated in the 2022 midterm election.

The We Lift Our Voices project brings together Robin Lemberg, founder of The Heart Monitors, a marketing strategy and activation company based in New York and Paris, and Gabby Ogelsby, founder of Go Off Productions in Winston-Salem.

Together with a Southern gospel choir, they have created an uplifting, crossover song rooted in gospel and contemporary pop, with musical inspiration ranging from gospel and soul to modern rock.

At its heart, We Lift Our Voices is a story about the powerful combination of marketing creativity, local creators, musicians supported by civic partners using music, digital advertising and grassroots activation  to increase voter turnout by making it feel personal, hopeful and shared.

The insight for the lyrics grew from local focus groups. Young people described feeling both disenchanted by the current political environment, unsure how their voices and vote matter, and unaware how midterms elections impact the policies shaping their everyday lives.

The campaign meets that feeling with an inspiring reminder: the choices made in midterm elections help shape the world around us. Voters can connect their own beliefs with the candidates who reflect them and impact change in the local communities. It’s on them to exercise that power and not to delegate it, because it matters.

The effort is nonpartisan and intended for everyone. It was made possible by Lift Every Vote, a local nonprofit, and V.O.T.E. -Voices of the Electorate, a newer PAC committed to empowering change and civic duty with a cutting edge way to target and activate voters—not on demographics but belief based personas.
