, /PRNewswire/ — In celebration of its 70th anniversary and to give back to the community it calls home, Disneyland Resort invited local residents to join in celebrating The Happiest Place on Earth with exciting events and surprises over 70 hours of fun in Anaheim.
From surprise school visits for students to a neighborhood block party and beyond, the 70 Happiest Hours in Anaheim initiative brought Disney magic to over 5,000 individuals at 16 unique events over three days throughout the city.
“For 70 years, Disneyland Resort has been fortunate to call the City of Anaheim home,” said Thomas Mazloum, president of Disneyland Resort. “With ’70 Happiest Hours in Anaheim‘, we’re honoring our legacy by giving back to the community that has embraced us for generations – bringing a little extra magic to the place and people who mean so much to us.”
Highlights of the campaign included:
- Mickey Mouse and friends welcomed more than 800 students and staff for the first day of school at Crescent Elementary School
- Over 300 attendees treated to an over-the-top movie night experience and festival at Loara High School
- Nearly 100 Anaheim first responders received surprise station visits to show appreciation for their service with character meet and greets, tasty treats and games
- Ten veterans who are residents of Walnut Village were invited to Disneyland Resort to be honored during a special flag retreat ceremony
The event concluded Friday night at Glover Stadium where the Katella High School band was joined by the Disneyland Band for an unforgettable halftime show, featuring a performance of classic Disney songs. Additional surprises also included souvenir giveaways, themed snacks and favorite Disney characters on-hand to greet attendees and kick off the game.
“Anaheim and Disneyland Resort are bound by history and a legacy that lives on as part of our community today,” City of Anaheim Mayor Ashleigh Aitken said. “These events keep that legacy alive, benefiting our local kids, families, seniors and first responders across Anaheim. This is what it means to be the place where it all started 70 years ago. As home to Walt Disney’s original Disneyland, no one else has what Anaheim has, and this reflects that special bond.”
Since 1955, Disneyland Resort has been a source of happiness and inspiration to the world. That same mission inspires the resort’s efforts to bring joy to the lives of families in the local community. Through volunteerism, once-in-a-lifetime experiences, and cash and in-kind donations totaling tens of millions of dollars each year, Disneyland Resort creates a lasting impact in Orange County. Through Disney VoluntEARS, cast members contributed more than 33,000 hours of volunteer time and held over 80 workforce development sessions in 2024.
